BASIC CONCEPTS

Prevention, protection and conservation of the health of people through organized efforts and activities utilizing nutrition knowledge. Basic concepts include the following:

▪ Good nutrition increases people's productivity, promotes learning ability, enables interactive participation and involvement.
 
▪  Responsive nutrition programs are needs-oriented towards self-reliance.

▪  Certain population groups are more nutritionally-at-risk than others.

▪  Malnutrition is a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional problem.

▪  Nutrition solutions require multidisciplinary approaches.

▪  Strategies for solutions demand coordination and integration.

▪  Involvement from government and private sectors is of utmost important.

▪ Scientific evidence-based nutrition and dietetic information serve as bases for action.

▪  Monitoring, evaluation and surveillance support decision-making.
