A chance meeting of Tarlac NDs in early 2004 where they
discussed the rising incidence of nutrition-related diseases like diabetes,
kidney ailments, cardiovascular diseases and tuberculosis as well as the
continued high prevalence of nutritional deficiency disease like anemia,
avitaminosis A and iodine deficiency disorders, led to a decision to revive
the Tarlac Chapter, once an active chapter of NDAP. The plans for the revival
were laid out during a meeting held in the Tarlac Provincial Hospital on
19 February 2004. The first scientific meeting was held on 11 March 2004
at the Jocson’s Hospital where a summary of the proceedings of the NDAP’s
annual convention was discussed and where Mrs. Bing Pablo presented a paper
on Diet Counseling.
With these initiatives and motivated by a desire to be
a significant player in the country’s efforts to address our nutrition problems,
the Chapter hopes to be one of the most active NDAP Chapters

In 1999, the Cagayan Chapter underwent a sort of rejuvenation
process by squarely facing the trials and difficulties that came its way.
The prime mover in this process was Sor Amelia Bullecer, SPC, who gently
prodded the officers and members to move towards the realization of the
chapter’s goal to become a force in efforts to improve the nutritional status
of the population in Cagayan.
For starters, the officers and members strengthened the
chapter by increasing active membership from 10 to 30. This was achieved
by holding regular monthly meetings outside the municipality of Tuguegarao.
Rain or shine, they met at riverbanks and beach resorts. This helped to
promote camaraderie which eventually translated to enthusiastic involvement
in Chapter activities.
Among the first tasks tackled by the chapter was the
formulation of its Constitution and By-laws. It then made its presence in
the community felt by becoming involved in the community projects of LGUs,
NGOs or initiated by the chapter itself. These include diet counseling,
distribution of iodized salt (donated by a chapter member), distribution
of IEC materials and tree planting.
Today, the Chapter members continue to be involved in
community outreach activities. The Chapter continues to have problems, but
its leaders accept these as challenges to join hands with members to make
the Chapter what they want it to be.

Founded on April 16, 1997, this unique association of

Vizcaya held its first organizational meeting at the Southern Isabela in
Santiago City. It has adapted the following vision and mission.
be a nutritionally-healthy community.
Mission: To upgrade the
capabilities of nutritionist- dietitians in the delivery of nutrition and
dietetic services to the people through self improvement and establishment
of rapport and proper linkage to various sections in the community.
Bound by the clarity of its purpose to serve the profession to the fullest
and mindful of the vastness of its boundaries, the Chapter’s major accomplishment
is the recognition and acceptance of NDs by local government units and the
Barely seven years old, the chapter has had several distinct accomplishments
such as playing as key roles in the nutrition program of Isabela that earned
for it the Green Banner Award for Nutrition given by National Nutrition
Council; acquisition of a lot and building for the NDAP-IQNV headquarters;
acquisition of a computer with a printer for the Chapter’s use; and international
participation. In 2002, the Chapter was named Outstanding Provincial Chapter.
Through linkages with relevant GOs, NGOs, professional associations and
educational institutions, the chapter has participated in such projects
as the distribution of chicks and swine to nutritionally-at-risk families,
fingerling dispersal, distribution of fruit trees and vegetable seeds, distribution
of micronutrient supplements, advocacy in support of National Salt Iodization
Program, reorganization and strengthening of Municipal Barangay Nutrition
Councils, mass supplemental feeding and other community outreach programs.

It was in August 30, 1996 when the NDAP mother chapter
held the seminar on “Special concern for Nutritionist-Dietitians: Research
and Enteral Nutrition” at the Lin-lin Restaurant that Nieves C. Serra and
Adela Jamorabo encouraged the nutritionist-dietitians of Quezon Province
to organize their own chapter and elect their own set of officers. On that
very afternoon, the new set of officers was elected with Mary Anne Elizabeth
Remigio as the first president.
Until at present, the chapter still continues holding activities on continuing
medical education through seminars for members, nutrition education - nutrition
on air, lectures to different communities through medical missions and outreach
activity to indigents. As a member of the Provincial Multi-Sectoral Nutrition
Committee, the chapter is not only involved in its own activities but in
all nutrition activities of the Quezon province and very much committed
to make better the lives of its fellow Quezonians.

Nutrition advocacy by nutritionist- dietitians started in Cebu as early
as 1965 when a Chapter of the Philippine Association of Nutrition was organized.
In 1978, the Cebu Chapter of NDAP was formally founded with Herminia Alvarez
as the first president.
Activities of the Chapter have been designed to support
the Philippine Food and Nutrition Program through extension services to
various population groups. After the successful hosting of NDAP’s Annual
Convention in 1984, the Chapter initiated a series of “mini- conventions”.
So far, eleven such conventions have been held. These essentially extended
NDAP’s outreach to NDs in the Visayas and Mindanao who cannot come to Manila
for the national conventions.
The Chapter was named “Most Outstanding Chapter” in 1986 and in 1993 received
a “Merit Award” for consistency in implementing activities for the benefit
of professionals as well as the general population of Cebu.
